‘Health is Wealth’ for Wealthy and ‘Health is Survival’ for Deprived

In country like India where population is over 1.2 billion people, economic disparity is something inevitable. There is competition for everything be it education, facilities, services, success, position, shelter, land, drinking water, food and survival. There is segment which is leading the world’s best industries and employing thousands of people and side by side there is a segment below poverty line which is striving day and night for the basic resources. And with development these extremes are increasing day by day. Rich is becoming richer and poor is becoming poorer. So, in India ‘health is wealth’ only for wealthy and for poor it is still a struggle for survival.

The World Bank estimates that India is ranked 2nd in the world for the number of children suffering from malnutrition and 32.7% of the total Indian people fall below the international pverty line.  These statistics just state the lack of resources & their management but apart from this if we see the dwelling condition, it shows the worst scenario. It’s not only malnutrition which is hazardous for the new generation of India; there are diseases like diarrhea, typhoid, malaria, measles and pneumonia which are resulting in death of four children every minute. And ultimately health problems are pulling the nation in trench of failure. Development is only in figures, graphs and statistics of a particular section and there are people below poverty line who are deprived of everything, even basic needs. Providing health facility to every individual is government’s responsibility but enhancing the reach of facilities is every individual’s responsibility.
